2025–2026 – “Green Industrial Recovery Project for Ukraine through Technology Transfer and the Co-Creation of New Businesses with Japan’s Private Industries”, development partner: United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).
- Conducting a feasibility study on the use of Imec® technology under the conditions of Ukraine.
The Ukrainian Institute for Plant Variety Examination successfully fulfilled its obligations regarding the implementation of the first stage of the project by providing proper organizational, technical and informational support for the activities envisaged under the Agreement with Mebiol Inc. within the framework of the UNIDO grant agreement. In particular, UIPVE ensured the necessary conditions for the placement and operation of the greenhouse infrastructure, involvement of relevant personnel, support for the test cultivation of vegetable crops, record-keeping and observations of plant growth and development, as well as coordination of communication between the project participants.
Taking into account the positive results of the first stage of cooperation, UIPVE continues working on the expansion and extension of the project for 2027–2028, particularly in the direction of deepening cooperation with Mebiol Inc., scaling up the tested technological solutions, and further implementing innovative approaches to vegetable crop cultivation under the conditions of Ukraine.

- Verification of the effectiveness of a frost prevention agent produced from natural extracts of coffee grounds (“Frostbuster”).
The Ukrainian Institute for Plant Variety Examination successfully fulfilled its obligations regarding the implementation of the first stage of the project in cooperation with KUREi Co., Ltd. within the framework of the UNIDO grant agreement by providing proper organizational, scientific-methodological and informational support for field trials of the frost prevention agent “Frostbuster” under the conditions of Ukraine.
In particular, UIPVE carried out the preparatory work for the research, ensured the evaluation of varietal collections of strawberry, raspberry and blackcurrant, applied the product in accordance with the agreed plan, conducted observations, photographed the condition of plants, recorded damage and growth indicators, and summarized the results in the established format.
Taking into account the results of the first stage of cooperation, UIPVE continues working on the preparation of proposals for the further development and extension of the project for 2027–2028, particularly in the direction of expanding research, refining technological approaches, and assessing the possibilities for local production and distribution of “Frostbuster” in Ukraine.

2023–2025 – International technical assistance under the “Programme of Emergency Recovery”, development partner: Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
The Ukrainian Institute for Plant Variety Examination ensured the proper organization and successful implementation of all preparatory measures necessary for the project implementation under the Emergency Recovery Programme. In particular, UIPVE professionally identified the needs of the Institute and its branches, developed well-substantiated technical requirements for agricultural machinery and laboratory equipment, ensured proper communication with the responsible parties, coordinated the list of equipment, and obtained the necessary permits for its delivery, acceptance, distribution and further use.
Thanks to the timely preparatory work carried out, UIPVE ensured the full achievement of the planned results: the received equipment was put into practical use at UIPVE branches and laboratories and was aimed at improving the quality of qualification examination of plant varieties, upgrading the material and technical base, strengthening laboratory capacity, and ensuring the reliability of the results of field and molecular genetic studies.
